WACH Fox has an immediate opening for a 5 a.m. – 9 a.m. co-anchor on the market’s only all-local morning news team. If you want to anchor fast paced, visually compelling newscasts and tell in-depth enterprise stories on television, the web and mobile platforms, this is the job for you. If you are a journalist who anchors, and not just “an anchor,” this is the job for you. If you are tired of being told every fire or shooting that comes across the scanner is breaking news, this is the job for you. If you believe good television is about finding stories that impact the community and then going beyond the press release to ask tough questions, hold officials accountable and capture emotion via creative storytelling, this is the job for you. We need someone who thrives in a fast-paced newsroom under deadline pressure and has experience in all facets of media. You must have flexibility to shoot, write, edit, report and anchor, and be willing to put in the time to track down important stories wherever they may lead. A valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required. You should have strong broadcast and AP style writing skills and be proficient at posting content to web sites. The ideal candidate will be able to anchor and assist with producing newscasts, research and develop enterprise news stories, thoroughly and fairly cover assigned news stories, and deliver compelling well-written stories and live shots.

Required Skills/Experience:

Minimum 3+ years full-time anchor experience. Prior experience as a Fox anchor and/or Southeastern market experience strongly preferred. Candidates must have mastery of social media tools including Facebook and Twitter, and must understand how to properly leverage their use on-air and online. Candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, good organizational skills, solid news judgment, strong computer skills and the ability to make quick decisions and work well under pressure. College degree in journalism or communications strongly preferred. Must be able to work holidays as needed, as well as, hours necessary to perform the duties as outlined above. Experience with non-linear editing, videography and live reporting required.

Salary: Commensurate with experience

•Capable of handling many production details and making decisions with occasional supervision.
•Goal-oriented, self-motivated individual capable of working under deadline pressure in a fast and concise manner that enables news employees and personnel from other departments to meet their deadlines.
•Ability to solve unanticipated problems or perform unscheduled assignments that demand immediate attention.
•Possess the ability to motivate others to a high standard of performance.
•Able to conceptualize, research, and produce projects with maximum supervision.
•Able to effectively screen telephone calls for on-air talk shows in a professional manner while providing accurate information.

•Familiarity with the laws on libel and slander and familiarity with applicable FCC Rules and Regulations is required.
