Position Summary:

Are you a business news junkie with a passion for producing radio? The
Marketplace Morning Report is looking for a dynamic Assistant Producer or
Associate Producer I to join our fast- paced overnight shift producing content
that reaches more than 10 million listeners. This position is responsible for
directing live broadcasts of the Marketplace Morning Report, and works
collaboratively with the Overnight Producer contributing show ideas,
researching topics, scheduling guests, and providing production and
maintenance. Our ideal candidate is enthusiastic about business news,
energetic, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and who knows how to use
music and sound to liven up a news show. This role is also responsible for
arranging interviews, helping plan future news coverage and organizing host
remotes. The Assistant Producer or Associate Producer I will fill-in for and assist
other Marketplace programs as needed.

This position requires the ability to work a regular, overnight shift with a start
time of 2:00am.

This job listing will remain open until the position is filled.

Position Responsibility:

Directs five live broadcasts of the Marketplace Morning Report, creates
rundowns, selects music, coordinates fixes, and manages archiving.
Books, produces and edits host interviews with high-profile guests.
Stays current with local, regional, national and international news.
Writes promos and scripts.
Creates, produces and develops regular show segments.
Performs hands-on production; cuts and edits audio, pulls news copy;
schedules studio time.
Fields host Q&As outside of the studio, along with other show segments as
required.
Initiates and researches story and segment ideas and concepts for program.
Writes introductions and prepares stories for broadcast, Internet and other
platforms.
Contributes to Marketplace news calendars.
Performs administrative tasks, including: answering listener email, building
and maintaining Rolodex for guests, creating daily rundowns, and tracking
payment vouchers.
Helps plan coverage based on planning calendars and upcoming events.
Produces and directs during breaking news coverage.
Collects information from identified content sources for posting to the Web.
Researches sources/guests, background, context; proposes guests.
Supports hosts; may handle host travel logistics and editorial bookings.
Acquires permissions/licenses.
Directs the work of interns.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
Minimum one year of production, editorial or related experience

Associate Producer I level (in addition to the bullets above):

Three or more years' production, editorial or related experience
Broad experience in journalism, including writing, interviewing, and editing.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Ability to work under deadline pressure.
Ability to work efficiently with limited direct supervision.
Ability to work well with diverse personalities on the show.

POSITION PURPOSE:

We are seeking an on-call reporter/producer to provide fill-in coverage for
our staff on an as-needed basis. Our ideal reporter/producer will be a highly

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cultivate and maintain news sources
Present news in a concise, conversational and accurate manner on-air
and online
Create objective news content that will be consumed by a broad and
diverse audience over multiple platforms
Write quickly, clearly and accurately
Effectively and appropriately use social media to present stories via all
available media channels
Work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays under deadlines
Be available for breaking news coverage at all times of the day, including
weekends and holidays
Coordinate with news producers, reporters and executive producer on
breaking news updates and coverage
Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

College degree in communications, journalism, marketing or other
relevant field. If no degree, 2 years relevant experience
Direct experience writing for broadcast
Direct experience crafting and effectively delivering stories on-air
Knowledgeable and articulate in dealing with current affairs and the news
of the day
Creative in use of sound, production elements, audience engagement and
news ideas
Self-motivated, creative individual who can also organize and consistently
display good judgement
Ability to understand and execute format philosophy and work with a team
of other professionals in creating a distinctive sound
Work effectively in a team environment
Proven ability to handle stress
Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor
Ability to consistently work hours required, and works more when required

Job responsibilities may include the following:

Help coordinate remote events for radio stations
Setup live remote broadcasts
In-house promotions and marketing
Prepare signage, promotions, giveaways for events
Provide support on logistics, setup, takedown for remote events
Conduct tours of the station broadcast house
Interact with listeners, clients, hosts and DJs in a positive manner



Qualifications:

High school graduate, or equivalent
18 years of age or older with a valid driver's license and clean driving record
Strong communication skills both through writing and speaking
Positive and energetic attitude
Excel in unsupervised solo assignments as well as team projects
Reliable, responsible, dependable, able to fulfill obligations
Detail-oriented
Work effectively with the public including clients, hosts, and the audience
Prefer applicants with previous public relations experience



Physical Demands:

Substantial physical movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or
fingers.
Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written
communication effectively.
