POSITION PURPOSE:

We are seeking a part-time Assignment Desk Editor for our multi-platform newsroom. The
DMC (Deseret Management Corporation) combined newsroom is a 24-hour provider of
news and information represented by KSL-TV, KSL Radio, Deseret News, KSL.com and
DeseretNews.com. The Assignment Desk Editor will gather, disperse and coordinate
coverage of news across all of the DMC platforms and act as the central hub of the
newsroom for gathering and providing information and details.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan and coordinate daily assignments and breaking news coverage for reporters,
photographers, freelance personnel, etc. across all platforms
Coordinate the gathering and dissemination of pertinent information among reporters,
photographers and other staff members
Set up and plan long-term coverage, including coordination across platforms
Respond quickly and efficiently to breaking news
Monitor websites, social media, police and fire scanners and other breaking news alerts
Work with platform managers and producers to develop content and information
Communicate coverage wants and needs with all platform managers and field crews
Make beat calls to sources and agencies and gather information from public agencies
Maintain records and update stories on Dash
Interact with and serve all platforms in a professional manner
Perform other duties as assigned


REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 2 years' experience in a newsroom environment, preferably at assignment
desk, with background in journalism and/or communications.
Possess excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal skills. High level of ability to
articulate and communicate clearly with other people.
Assertive and capable of making decisions quickly while effectively communicating those
decisions to others and maintaining a level of confidence under scrutiny.
High level of organization, with ability to prioritize and manage time and tasks effectively
and efficiently.
Interest in and knowledge of local news issues.
Ability to work with moderate supervision, confidential information and be a self-starter.
Capable and willing to resolve unexpected problems and be flexible to perform
unscheduled assignments.
A high level of proficiency with computers, software and new technologies.
Highly familiar with the benefits and shortcomings of all types of media including, but not
limited to, "heritage" media as well as all types of current and emerging social and digital
media.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication
effectively.
Substantial physical movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Description
WTVG, 13abc Action News in Toledo, is looking for an Assistant News Director
who will lead and manage news coverage across television and digital
platforms. The Assistant News Director will work closely with the News
Director, and other staff members on day-to-day operations and supervision
of the newsroom. We want someone who’s aggressive in pursuing breaking news,
who’s passionate about not simply covering, but uncovering news and who’s a
creative thinker. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter who thrives in
a fast-paced, winning news environment.

The Assistant News Director must be able to “own” the big stories of the
day, breaking news and especially weather coverage. The person must have a
passion for news, show design and be able to mentor MMJ’s to help with
creative storytelling. He or she must also work with producers to make their
newscasts creative, relevant and deliver what viewers have come to expect
from WTVG for more than 70 years. The assistant news director will also be
responsible for managing daily assignments, scheduling, planning specials,
special coverage and helping plan the long-term strategy of the news
department.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Work with Digital Content Manager Initiating and managing content delivery
on all WTVG platforms
• Setting an urgent and aggressive tone in the newsroom
• Making editorial decisions on content
• Assist News Director in effectively communicating goals and plans for the
newsroom and ensuring those plans are carried out by all staff members
• Assisting morning, evening and weekend producers and reporters with story
development and assignment
• Executing our Breaking News and Severe Weather coverage plans
• Plan and execute “big story” coverage
• Holding all staff members accountable on a daily basis
• Conduct regular feedback sessions with all employees
• Participate in editorial and planning meetings
• Work with producers and reporters to enterprise and generate content
• Monitor all newscasts and digital news coverage to ensure staff is meeting
standards
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality
• Protect and defend journalistic integrity of the news product
• Ensure the news team follows best practices on all platforms
• Execute news strategies developed by news department management

Requirements
• BA in Journalism with minimum 3 years of experience in a television
newsroom, including some management experience.

We are looking for a dynamic Senior PPC Specialist. Our ideal candidate will be responsible
for the execution, optimization and management of all PPC campaigns run through Google
Ads across all of Bonneville, including Search, YouTube, & Mobile App promotion, to enable
the delivery of impactful results for Bonneville's clients. We are looking for someone who
can maintain a laser-like focus on setting and achieving high-level results while still
possessing a detailed and analytic mindset to provide unique and compelling insights.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Launch and optimize various PPC campaigns and oversee our various MCC accounts.
Perform day-to-day campaign activities for enterprise level Paid Search (PPC) campaigns,
including bid management, budget allocation, forecasting, performance monitoring,
strategic testing, campaign expansion, etc.
Track KPIs to assess performance and pinpoint issues and produce reports for
management (e.g. dashboards)
Regularly perform detailed monitoring and analysis of our industry to determine changes in
customer behavior and adjusting strategy to capture market demand
Collaborate with other markets & teams to ensure campaign goals and expectations are
met.
Act as the main point of contact for internal departments regarding SEM. Guided by your
Digital Marketing Manager, you will spearhead collaboration, facilitate discussions,
planning, and project management
Contribute to the development and execution of market strategies for Paid Search
campaigns, including developing strategic roadmaps, test plans, and risk/benefit analysis;
as well as analyzing results and developing actionable insights

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

2+ years of PPC marketing experience with Google Ads
Proven expertise CRO, and remarketing strategies
Knowledge of Google tools such as Google Analytics, Google Keyword Planner, Google Tag
Manager etc.
Proven expertise in running Search, Display, YouTube, and Mobile App Promotion
campaigns.
Strong analytical skills, complemented by the ability to take direction, learn/develop new
skill sets, problem-solve, and take on new challenges while paying strong attention to
detail
A self-driven and reliable problem solver that can work efficiently with little to no
supervision
Positive, flexible, and well organized to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet
