Director of Business Development

Boncom is seeking a Director of Business Development to lead our strategic expansion in the Washington, D.C. area. As the Director of Business Development, you will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities in the greater Washington, D.C., region. You will be the face of the agency in D.C.

Job Summary

To be successful as a Director of Business Development, you will build a book of business from scratch, working closely with creative directors, strategists, and others in the agency to close deals. The right person will bring an entrepreneurial spirit to expanding the reach of a 50-year-old agency into new national-level clients.

Must Have Qualifications

• 8-10 years previous experience with a track record of success in business development or sales
• Ability to develop in-depth knowledge of Boncom's offerings and to identify profitable business opportunities that align with our services
• Ability to present and explain ideas to a variety of audiences
• Exceptional persuasive communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Business development experience for a marketing, advertising, or other professional services company
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, sales, finance, or related field
• Experience in digital marketing, web, social media and/or PR
• Business development experience associated with non-profit entities
• Resourceful researcher of emerging trends
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities

Responsibilities include:

• Identifying, qualifying, and securing opportunities for new agency business; focusing on cause-based organizations (government or non-government)
• Ability to build and maintain strategic relationships to grow business
• Preparation of required documentation for requests for proposals (RFPs)
• Responsible for driving relationship development functions and attending networking events
• Create and give informative presentations by arranging business meetings and one-on-one conversations with prospective clients
• Presenting business or marketing opportunities to agency executives and management
• Artfully negotiate and close deals
• Cultivate and maintain meaningful interactions and relationships current clients
• Staying on top of trends to ensure relevance
