Director of Engineering

CBN Operations – Virginia Beach, VA

The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) is looking for an experienced Director of Engineering to provide senior technical leadership and managerial oversight of the Broadcast Engineering team.  This professional will engineer complex technical solutions for media delivery, playout, compression, and distribution technologies.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

·         Extensive working knowledge of broadcast engineering, television production, post-production and production management

·         Working knowledge of baseband HD/SD video, transport stream distribution, video/audio encoding and advanced IP networking

·         Experience in data network and data communications

·         Familiarity with industry developments in key technical areas of standardization and the ability to articulate benefits/risks of technical solutions

·         Strategic thinker with ability to manage projects and assess outcomes

·         Working knowledge of OTT streaming architectures and technologies a plus

·         Excellent oral, written, presentation, negotiation and public relations skills

·         Strong leadership skills with ability to proactively train and mentor direct reports

·         Flexible with ability to work within a high pressure and stressful live broadcast environment

·         Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to establish rapport with all levels of management and staff

·         Ability to create, manage and monitor budgets

·         SBE, SCTE certifications and FCC operator class license desirable
